Artist Series: Robert Rauschenberg

  1. Nice cartoon, but I don't think it was Robert Rauchenberg who was known for producing white or blank canvases. That must have been some other artist. Robert Ryman perhaps, or Ad Reinhardt if my memory serves me. You may be thinking of his supposedly have erased a deKooning drawing? Rauchenberg, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenberg and Andy Warhol along with other Pop Artists all made some very good art most of which was not blank.

  2. I was quite surprised to find that Rauschenberg had, in fact, done "white paintings" when I stumbled upon one in a gallery. See: http://tinyurl.com/Rauschenberg-white-paintings.
